Halloween Movies to Watch with the Younger Kiddos

Happy October yall! This is one of my favorite months all year. Why, you ask? Because Halloween! All Hallow’s Eve. The night when living and dead meet. Ok, seriously now, I really do enjoy Halloween. All the candy, costumes, decorating, movies, everything!

And speaking of movies and Halloween in the same sentence, this year, my family and I have decided that we are going to watch one Halloween themed movie every night of October. Since our daughter is still only eight years old, that makes slimmer options for something the entire family will enjoy. Granted, she is enjoying more movies geared toward older kids and even some non-graphic more adult movies. (I’m not ready for her to grow up and not want to watch kids movies!!) I thought that since I needed to do a little research, I might as well blog about it in case anyone else needed some help.

I’ve listed movies that I remember and love from my childhood: The Goonies, Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, etc. I’ve also found a few movies through Google search that should be appropriate, but I haven’t seen them so I can’t guarantee they’re any good. We might not watch them in this order, just because things happen and some movies are better than others. But I’m hoping we can watch all of them. Or at least 31 movies in case one of them is a dud.

If you have any suggestions for good Halloween movies the whole family can enjoy, leave me a comment. I love to know what other people are watching!

It’s Been a While!

Hey hey! I’m back!! I know, it’s been a loooooooooooong time since I’ve posted anything. But I’m really wanting to get back into blogging. I have a ton of stuff going on right now in my life, so I feel like I have so much more to say now. I’m still working full-time at the same company I’ve been at since 2011. But I’m doing more than just working and going home. I think I was stuck in depression and withdrawal mode for the longest time. A couple years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, so I still have my ups and downs. But I feel like I’m managing it a little better now. I went through a bunch of medications trying to find the best one for me. In the end though, the medications did nothing for me for the long-term. They were like quick fixes and then they didn’t work anymore. So, I am currently not on any medications to manage my bipolar disorder. Now, I’m not telling you that’s the right choice for everyone, but it was the right choice for me for this time in my life.

But enough about disorders and medications! All of that was to say that I’ve finally reached a point in my life were I feel like I’m balancing everything fairly well. I work full-time. I’m a homemaker and I’m managing that (for the most part ?). I’m an avid reader – I’ll read anything I can get my hands on. I still love Thrive and talk about it with anyone who will listen. And my newest obsession – essential oils. I just started exploring oils, but so far I love everything about them!

So I’ll probably be posting about each of these topics sooner or later. If there’s anything in particular y’all want to read about, just let me know with a comment here. I’m going to do my best to get into a regular posting schedule, so I’ll need plenty of ideas.

Here’s to a new start for my blog!

February Goals

Hey yall!

Happy February! It’s a new month and, for me, that means new goals. I hope to start posting my goals each month so I have some accountability. If any of yall want join the accountability fun, post your goals in the comments.

I’m looking to add at least 2 new customers and 1 new promoter to my team. So, if you’re looking for a way to feel amazing all day with a clean, non-jittery energy with no crash, contact me. Or if you’re looking for a way to make some extra money, get in touch with me. Either comment below, reach out to me on Facebook, or check out the Contact page.

I’m planning to keep my work to do list a short as possible. So that means keeping up with everything as it comes in. No putting work off to the side to work on later. And I want to get next month’s calendar done before the last day of the month.

I want to continue my Miracle Morning routine every day which means waking and getting out of bed at 4:30 am. I need to make sure I include the Exercise in the Life S.A.V.E.R.S. in my Miracle Mornings. I want to focus on drinking more water. I’m going to read at least one book that is out of my comfort zone. And, of course, I’ll read many other books all month long.

I’m continuing my daily devotions with the book, Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young. Each lesson is one I need to hear. I need to attend church every Sunday, not just when I feel like it. Lent begins this month, so I need to decide what I’m giving up and what I’m changing.

Super Secret Plans
This month I’m going to start saving money for my super secret plans that only 2 people know about. I get so excited thinking about these plans that I want to tell the whole world, but I can’t yet!

Those are my goals for the month.  I have plans in place to make sure each goal is achieved. Hopefully it will be a successful month!

What’s Saving My Life Right Now

Anne at Modern Mrs. Darcy has posed the question, “What is saving your life right now?” It may seem like an odd question, but she says it’s all too easy to think of the things that are going wrong right now. But what’s going right? What are the small comforts or big events that help you keep your sanity during these cold and dreary winter days? I’m linking up to discuss what’s saving my life. I’ll give you a small portion of my list.

  1. My Traveler’s Notebook. I would be lost without it. I use it as a calendar, planner, notebook, to do list, goal planner, and many other things
  2. My Miracle Morning routine. I feel so peaceful and ready for my day after completing the routine. I’m no longer rushing to get out the door and angry that I’m going to be late.
    books (1)
  3. Physical books. Last year I spent so much time reading on my iPad that I forgot the pleasure of reading a physical book. Nothing compares to it.
  4. Chai tea. My husband bought me some amazing chai tea from Teavana. It’s blissful.
  5. Space heaters. I discovered that putting my space heater at work under my desk is most effective for warming me, especially when I get a cold draft from the front door opening.

My One Word

freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility.
“you can while away an hour or two in peace and seclusion”

tranquility, calm, restfulness, peace and quiet, peacefulness, quiet, quietness

I know it’s been a while since I last posted but I went from having no inspiration to having too many ideas to write about! I’ll start with my One Word for 2016. I mentioned in a previous post that I usually choose a word to center my whole year around. I pray about it and meditate on it and eventually the word comes to me. This year’s word took much longer to be chosen than in the past. I’m hoping that’s a good sign and means I really need to pay attention to it.

My word for this year is peace. It’s very fitting considering the devotional I received over Christmas is Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young. Add in my Miracle Morning routine and my mornings have become very peaceful lately. Now to add peace to the rest of my day.

I’ve got some super secret plans in the works to help me find that peace I’m looking for in my work life, but it’s a very long term plan. Now I just need to find ways to be more peaceful in my relationships and home life. This is another time that prayer and meditation are helpful.

So, do you have one word for the year? Let me know in the comments!
